Abstract

Anwarul Qur’an Islamic Boarding School in Adiwerna District, Tegal Regency, has several buildings used for educational activities, student dormitories, and worship. However, the school management has limited understanding and capacity regarding the Building Approval (Persetujuan Bangunan Gedung/PBG), which replaces the Building Construction Permit (IMB), and has never conducted an evaluation of the structural adequacy of its existing buildings. This condition potentially creates legal and building safety risks for occupants. This community service activity aimed to improve the management’s capacity to understand PBG procedures and provide assistance in conducting an initial evaluation of the building structure. The implementation methods included an initial building condition survey, PBG regulation socialization, training and assistance in completing administrative requirements through the Building Management Information System (SIMBG), and non-destructive testing using a HT-225 rebound hammer on structural columns based on SNI 03-4430-1997 and ASTM C805. The results showed improved understanding of PBG procedures and requirements, as well as the preparation of the necessary administrative documents. Testing at 26 column points, consisting of 13 points on the first floor and 13 points on the second floor, produced rebound numbers ranging from 25 to 38, with an average of 30.3. These results indicate relatively uniform concrete surface hardness. Overall, the activity improved administrative readiness, provided an initial overview of structural conditions, and can serve as a model for similar assistance programs in other religious educational institutions.
