Abstract

This research aims to analyze the emotional relationship between father and son in the animated film Finding Nemo (2003) through a literary psychology approach. The primary focus of this study is the attachment dynamics between the characters Marlin and Nemo. The method used in this research is qualitative with a descriptive-analytical approach, where data were collected through documentation techniques from the primary data source, the film Finding Nemo. The results indicate that the emotional relationship between Marlin and Nemo evolves from a form of anxious attachment toward a secure attachment. Marlin's highly protective and anxious attitude is triggered by past traumatic experiences, which initially limited Nemo's independence and sparked conflict. However, through the narrative journey, both achieve emotional reconciliation characterized by the emergence of trust, healthy communication, and Marlin's recognition of his son's abilities. This study concludes that such emotional transformation is crucial in building a healthy relationship between parents and children.
